Aachen简介
"Eppur si muove."
~ Oscar Wilde on Aachen
Aachen is a city in the South Waist Germany, also known as Aix-la-Chapelle, Aken, Aquisgran, Cachy or New New Caledonia.
Aachen is widely known for its hospital, or klinikum. It was designed by the Spaniard architect Santiago Calatrava, built in the 17th Century under the reign of Charlemagne and paid by the Pope John Cleese III, the hidden Borgia. In its inauguration, Philip Glass performed his famous opera Koyaanisqatsi for the first time.
One of the most impressive features of this hospital is its movement. Due to the advanced technology employed in its construction, it can cover more than 100 meters (3.112 gallons) per day. Since it was built, it has travelled more than 2000 kilometers (25E23 inches), visiting the most important European cities. Nowadays, it's finishing its Asian tour in Beijing. |
