I am using an Epson C44 printer on Windows XP, it is now nearly two years old and for most of the time have used compatible inks from Choice Stationery. Today, both green and red lights are flashing and when eventually I tried to run a test page, received this message:

"Parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life. Contact your dealer for replacement."

As this printer is not the most expensive and unless there is a simple way of doing what needs to be done myself, has the printer reached the economic end of the road?

虽然只看到你用了英语和德语，但是鉴于这个论坛是一个中文论坛，我就默认你会汉语了。如果你用中文的话，相信看到这个帖子的人会更多些，很多人看到外语就一闪而过了，其中不少是硬件发烧友。
另外，如果你发帖子的时候，把问题在标题里概要的提一下，会醒目很多。
关于你的打印机，既然它是个epson，那对于它为什么不再工作，我有个猜测，不过说出这个猜测并不能给你带来一个解决方案，我也就不说了。
除了这个猜测，我还有一个建议：下次买打印机请避免epson。对于这个建议在这里我不给出解释，也不承担责任，请原谅。
