Seven candidates have cemented their spot on the next debate stage, a significant drop from the 10 who appeared stanley cup last month.Former tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang was the last addition to thesixth 2020 Democratic presidential debate, which will take place De stanley cup cember 19 in Los Angeles. Senator Kamala Harris was qualified butdropped out of the racelast week.According to a CBS News analysis, the following seven Democratic candidates qualified: Former Vice President Joe Biden Mayor Pete Buttigieg Senator Amy Klobuchar Tom Steyer Senator Bernie Sanders Senator Elizabeth Warren Andrew YangThe bar to qualify was raised once again. Candidates needed to prove that they have at least 200,000 unique donors, including at least 800 in 20 different states, U.S. territories or the District of Columbia. That s an increase from 165,000 last month. They also had to reach either 4% in at least four national or early-state polls or reach 6% in two early-state polls. That s an increase from 3% and 5%, respectively. The debate will be hosted by PBS NewsHour and Politico. Ten candidates took the stage for November s debatein Atlanta. SALT LAKE CITY -- The Mormon church appointed a 93-year-old former heart surgeon Tuesday as its new president, following a longstanding succession plan that aims to keep the faith on course with a minimum of upheaval. The selection of Russell M. Nelson was announced during an address broadcast from Salt Lake C jordan ity to Mormons around the world. Nelson called on Mormons to stay true to their faith and keep the covenant path. If you have stepped off the path, may I advise you with all the hope in my heart to please come back, Nelson said. The announcement came after Nelson was chosen as the religion s 17th president during a private meeting of the church s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles leadership body in a temple, per church tradition that makes the longest-tenured member of the Quorum the new president. Nelson is now considered a prophet, seer and revelator salomon by Mormons. Nelson succeedsThomas S. Monson, who died Jan. 2 at age 90. Nelson announced that his two counselors will be Dallin H. Oaks, 85, and Henry B. Eyring, 84, both members of the Quorum. Eyring was also a counselor for Monson, whi jordan le this marks the first time Oaks will serve as a counselor to a church president.
