PhD-position at TU Berlin

PhD-position at TU Berlin

We announce a PhD-position at the Technische Universität Berlin, in close cooperation with the Deutsches GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam, in the frame of the DFG-funded research group 'Nanoscale processes and geomaterials properties', subproject 'Fluid assisted mineral replacement processes' (see www.for741.de<http://www.for741.de/>).
We investigate the formation of corona structures of titanite around rutile by hydrothermal experiments to determine the controlling parameters of trace element incorporation as well as the reaction mechanism of a dissolution-precipitation reaction. The student is expected to continue our research and to expand it to other examples, such as the correlation of experimental data with natural ones and the extension to other systems. Cooperation with other members of the research group at the Freie Universität Berlin, GeoForschungsZentrum and the Universität Wien is also expected.
We can offer a very active scientific environment and access to a large number of experimental and analytical facilities. The position has funding for 2 years (DFG salary for PhD-students), extension for a third year is expected. Please send your application, together with a short statement about your interests, to Prof. Dr. G. Franz, Technische Universität Berlin, Fachgebiet Mineralogie-Petrologie, Sekr. ACK 9, Ackerstraße 71-76, D 13355 Berlin, or via e-mail <gerhard.franz@tu-berlin.de<mailto:gerhard.franz@tu-berlin.de>>. Please contact us for further information.
