国内的临床医学本硕那种的硕士，想申请phD，但是熟悉的一个教授说需要参加一个exam，

The exam can be done for a sub-topic such as physiology together with molecular biology. The intention is to make sure that the prospective PhD-Student got elementary training in scientific work.
