Brothers, even though a man takes some false step before he is aware of it, you who have spiritual qualifications try to readjust such a man in a spirit of mildness, as you each keep an eye on yourself, for fear you also may be tempted.—Gal. 6:1.
Mildness is gentleness in temperament and behavior. One of God’s attributes is mildness of temper. We know this because Jesus, who was a mild-tempered man, perfectly reflected Jehovah’s personality. (Matt. 11:28-30; John 1:18; 5:19) What, then, is required of us as God’s servants? As Christians, we are expected to ‘exhibit mildness toward all men.’ (Titus 3:2) We display mildness in our ministry. Those with spiritual qualifications are counseled to readjust an erring Christian “in a spirit of mildness.” (Gal. 6:1) All of us can contribute to Christian unity and peace by displaying “lowliness of mind and mildness.” (Eph. 4:1-3) We can exhibit mildness if we consistently walk by spirit and exercise self-control. w07 7/15 2:21, 22 |
