But, with one seat spare in the family minibus, the couple feel they still have a gap to fill.

In March 2005, Rayna had triplet girls Ilish, Romany and Meredith, who are now 23 months.

Then on January 27 she gave birth to Avie, weighing 7lb 11oz, at Poole Hospital in Dorset.

She had a difficult labour this time round, and needed a blood transfusion after problems with the placenta.

But despite the potential problems, and the considerable squeeze on their finances, she says she remains hooked on motherhood.

"People think we are mad but the children are our life and bring us so much pleasure.

"When we married we said we’d have six, then my husband joked that we’d have eight to wind my mother up, but we’ve gone beyond a joke now."

8 X" r; n: L0 l8 H* WMrs Warriner spends her exhausting 17-hour day ferrying her children to various schools and nurseries, doing four loads of washing, shopping, cooking, cleaning and reading countless bedtime stories.

To accommodate their family, the couple, from Bournemouth, have had an extra-large bath fitted and have extended their six-bedroom detached house.

Mr Warriner, 45, who is applying for promotion to inspector to help support his brood, added: "When we got married ten years ago, Rayna said she’d like four children and I joked that I wanted eight. % p- w5 R3 }9 [# ]% v0 O. I

He added: "We haven’t had a holiday for years or a night out together. We don’t have a social life but I don’t feel I’m missing out."
