What should I do if I get a new passport when I still have a valid visa in my old passport? Is it possible to transfer the visa or will I need to make a new application?
You can travel with both the old and new passports, as the visa will still be considered valid. Should your Embassy or Consulate retain your old passport you would need to apply for a new visa for a transfer to the new passport. Applications for a transfer will need to be made in the same way as applying for a visa and you should ideally include a photocopy of your previous visa. There is a visa administration fee for this service.
