Scholarship Program for Chinese PhD-Students
LMU has signed a scholarship program with the Chinese Scholarship Council

The China Scholarship Council (CSC) offers two different kinds of PhD scholarships in cooperation with the LMU.
Model 1: Scholarships for a PhD Project pursued only at the LMU. The PhD title will be conferred by the LMU. Length of Program: Three years.
The following fields of study are open to applicants:
Law, Political Science, Sociology, Communication Science, Economics and Business Administration, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Biology, Life-Sciences, Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, Medicine, Geo-Sciences, Neuro-Science, Neuro-Psychology
Model 2: Scholarships for a Doctoral Program following a Sandwich Model:
The first year of PhD Studies will be pursued at the Chinese University. The PhD students then complete one to two years of research at the LMU. The PhD title will be conferred by the Chinese university. The PhD project has to be approved and coordinated by a professor of the LMU and by a professor of the Chinese University. A professor of the LMU and of the Chinese university will have to closely collaborate on the PhD project of the applicant.

Law, Economics and Business Administration, Political Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Pharmacy and Biology, Life-Sciences, Public Health, Neuro-Science, Medicine, Neuro-Psychology, Studies in Excellence in Psychology of Excellence in Business and Education, Geosciences
Application documents required for Model 1 (PhD title at the LMU):
(application deadline is November 30th 2006)
1. Application Form for Admission to Studies for Foreign Applicants: Please mark the top of the application form with “CSC Model 1” in red capital letters!
2. Curriculum vitae up to date at time of application
3. Statement of planned research project. Name of the supervising professor at the LMU. Proof of email contact with the professor must be included in the application
4. Statement certifying when the Master-Diploma will be attained. The Master Diploma is a prerequisite for final admission to PhD Studies. It is however not required at the time of the application.
5. Two letters of recommendation by university professors.
6. University documents: notarized copies of “official transcript of record”: Bachelor + Master Studies as well as Diplomas. School certificates are not necessary! If your application is not successful, the documents will be returned.
7. Language Requirements:
Law, Political Science, Sociology, Communication Science: excellent knowledge of German required: Test-DAF: test score with the minimum result of 4 in all parts of the examination or “DSH-2”. Proof of one of these tests has to be submitted with the applications.
Economics and Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Biology, Life-Sciences, Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, Medicine, Geo-Sciences, Neuro-Science, Neuro-Psychology, Biological Psychology: English language certificate of the IELTS Test Academic 6.0 (no module below 5) required. The TOEFL Test can not be accepted! Knowledge of German is necessary! The PhD thesis can, however, be written in English.

3. Statement of the applicant of the planned research project in cooperation with a professor at the LMU and a professor in the Chinese University.
4. Letter of the PhD supervising professor in China relating to the research project with LMU. Name of professor of LMU he is working with or plans to work with?
5. Two letters of recommendation by university professors, who are not your supervisor.
6. University documents: notarized copies of “official transcript of record”: Bachelor + Master Diploma and list of grades as well as a document confirming that you are already registered in a Ph D Program in a Chinese university (PhD Admittance). School certificates are not necessary! If your application is not successfull, the documents will be returned to you.
7. Language Requirements:
Law, Political Science: Excellent knowledge of German required: Test-DAF: test score with the minimum result of 4 in all parts of the examination or “DSH-2”. Proof of one of these tests has to be submitted with the application!

三、申请材料
